Cinéma
(Montréal, 2004)

A space with large storefront windows was converted into a theatre. Rows of seats inside the space face the windows, looking out onto the street. The window becomes a screen, when viewed from the inside. From the street, the space appears as a theatre as if viewed from the stage. Live performance takes place in the park and on the street opposite the window. The performance is both ambient, hardly distinguishable from the every-day activities of the area, as well as explicit dramatic actions. (click image for more)

FLEX!
(Montréal, 2003)

A 10 minute lightning performance. This sound work involves a chorus of 25 people. 25 people approached the large storefront windows of the SAT (Societé des arts technologiques), Montreal from different points in the park across the street. They hit the glass and tap, pound and slap, building in intensity for approximately 10 minutes, turning the large interior space into a giant resonating chamber. When the sound reaches a peak of intensity the crowd suddenly breaks and disperses. (click image for more)

Duet
Shumen Biennial, Shumen, Bulgaria, summer 2006
Anna Leonowens Gallery, NSCAD, Halifax, June 2006
Espace SD, Beirut, Lebanon, July, 2006

DUET is a video which is a choreographic echo of news footage depicting the movements of Hassam Abdo, a teenage suicide bomber disarmed by Israeli soldiers at a checkpoint near Nablus in 2004. In the original footage orders to remove the bomb and undress are shouted by soldiers off-camera. In the video several performers reproduce the movements of Hassam Abdo including a 'duet' where the movements are guided by the hands of another performer, a shift from the invisible power exerted from behind the camera's eye to direct communication through touch.
